A Shadowing of Angels is the first part of the Sam Holloway Trilogy which unfolds in the murky and dangerous world of covert intelligence collection and the Circuit, the name practitioners give to the London-based private military companies they are employed by. Samantha Holloway, a highly trained Special Forces Captain, suffers a serious setback when an agent handling operation in Afghanistan goes wrong with life-changing implications for Sam. People died and therefore Sam paid. She, therefore, finds herself as a civilian and a team leader on the circuit involved in a hostage rescue mission in Iraq. An American has been snatched by ISIS and now she leads a team of ex-British Special Forces contractors in a daring rescue attempt that will push their combined abilities to their limit. The mission starts in London and moves through Iraqi Kurdistan and finally into the heart of darkness- the Iraqi city of Mosul in an area of Iraq controlled by Daesh.
