A former professor at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, he holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and Religion from the Divinity School, University of Chicago. His books include Getting the Love You Want; Keeping the Love You Find; and the Couples Companion; co-authored with his wife, Helen Hunt, M.A. They have six children and live on a ranch in New Mexico.
