Wilderness

After refusing to go up and take the land as God has instructed the people of Israel listened to the report of 10 of the 12 spies and refused to go into Canaan. God punished those who brought a bad report and decreed that the Hebrews would wander for 40 years in the desert until all of that unbelieving generation died. During this time God continued to deal with the grumbling and rebellion of the people. Also during this time when King Balak of Moab saw that God was with the Hebrews he hired the prophet Balaam to curse the people of Israel but God turned his curses into blessings. After 40 years of wanderings this new generation of Israelites have arrived on the borders of the Promised Land and ready to enter it and take it by faith.
