For years, Gaye Hemsley has inspired both children and adults as a passionate dance teacher. She believes that dancing and writing share a joyful rhythm-both fueled by imagination and creativity.
A prolific storyteller, Gaye has published several picture books, and her love for words started early: on her seventh birthday, she published a book of poems reflecting her young life.
Many of her best ideas strike in the quiet hours of the night, so she always keeps a pen and paper close at hand. Walks through nature spark even more inspiration, and whenever a poem comes to her mid-stroll, she quickly sends it to herself via mobile phone.
Known affectionately to the children in her life as NanaGaye, she draws endless creativity from the magical landscapes of New Zealand's Bay of Plenty, where she continues to write with heart and imagination.
