When a body is found in an animal sanctuary, wildlife reporter Kristy Farrell discovers it was no accident. Five people were at the sanctuary when the death occurred. As Kristy digs into the victim's past, she discovers dark secrets affecting each of the five-providing powerful motives for murder. But ferreting out the killer isn't Kristy's only challenge. A friend of Kristy's widowed mother becomes the victim of a pyramid scam, and Kristy devises a scheme to expose the fraud. Meanwhile, back at the sanctuary, things are spiraling downhill, and another body is found. Kristy uncovers a major hole in the alibi of a key suspect, but as she closes in on the murderer, she may become the next victim.
