About

First published in the US in 1942 and then two years later in the UK in 1944, Trevelyan wrote this book during the Second World War. It is a popular retelling of English life from the 14th to the 19th century. Quite nostalgic, it was written as a feel-good nostalgia of past English life of the common people. This was his most successful history book.
