Fighting for MacArthur is the only book that focuses on the role of the Navy and Marine Corps during the 1941-42 defense of the Philippines. The book includes the most detailed account ever published of the Japanese bombing of the Cavite Navy Yard outside Manila on 10 December 1941, the worst destruction ever to US Navy installation. The book also provides many new details about the 4th Marine Regiment that surrendered on Corregidor in May 1942, the only time the Marine Corps lost a regiment in combat.
