Galatians

The apostle Paul had more reason to be confident in his standing as a "Hebrew of Hebrews" than many of his day. As a Pharisee, he was a strict follower of Jewish Law-and a zealous persecutor of the church until the day he met Jesus face to face on the road to Damascus. Paul's letter to the believers in Galatia contains this same form of zeal . . . but in reverse. He had learned the freedom and joy that comes from a relationship with God, and he urged his readers-and us today-to never trade that for man-made rules and practices. Paul tells us that we are justified by faith and can only find freedom in Christ alone.
