Not My Story, Our Story
Girl-ISH refers to the state of being a woman who is not "womanly/girly" enough to satisfy the desires, comfort, and expectations of others.
In late 2024, I embarked on this project to explore not just my experience, but to learn how women of various demographics feel. The Girl-ISH project was born. I developed and sent out a questionnaire to women of all ages, and I wrote poems.
The results, I hope, are a revelatory, sobering, and uplifting glimpse into what I learned.
I asked questions like:
What are 5 positives of being your gender?
What are 5 drawbacks of being your gender?
My next book project, "I Can Trust Myself," is a work in progress. For this, I will develop a new questionnaire that asks women for their stories of finding their way to self-trust.
