Bluebonnet Trails Bike Race is coming up and Poppy is laser-focused on getting her food truck ready for the crowds. Her tireless assistant, Kim, is there every step of the way-creating recipes, sourcing ingredients, and spending hot Texas days in what amounts to a large metal box-until a wrong step sends her to the hospital with a broken leg. Afraid she is going to miss out on the race crowds, Poppy quickly hires a temporary assistant. Everything is back on track until her new helps stumbles out of the food truck, a kitchen knife plunged in her gut. She manages to utter one word before passing-"Poppy." Now Poppy is again without an assistant, and people aren't exactly lining up to help, considering previous help ended up in the hospital and morgue, respectively. Oh, and there is the little problem that half the town now believes she is a murderer. Fans of Aurora Teagarden will love this spunky, young sleuth.
