La crisis catalana, tal y como se ha venido desarrollando, ha desconcertado a propios y a extraños. Muchos no podían dar crédito a lo que estaba sucediendo hasta que poco a poco fueron comprobando que no era la pesadilla de un sueño, sino una realidad. Es más, la crisis catalana es, sin lugar a dudas, la más grave que ha padecido España no solo en nuestro período democrático, sino desde la Guerra Civil de 1936-1939.

The terrorist group ETA, despite spawning more than 800 casualties, never came this close to representing a such a threat to Spain. It is a problem that will continue to be present unless it is tackled with all the weapons at the disposal of a state ruled by law, a category into which Spain falls.
