About

In Last Poe, two timelines converge across centuries-a chilling execution in 1822 Boston, witnessed by a sensitive, wide-eyed young Edgar Allan Poe, and a modern-day enigma unfolding in the quiet, snow-laced resort town of Poeland, Wisconsin.
At the center of this haunting tale is Annabel Lee Poe, a fiercely independent yet emotionally barricaded 25-year-old whose traumatic past has left her guarded and adrift. On her way to a promising internship in Seattle, Annabel receives an unexpected legal summons: she's inherited the long-abandoned Poe estate-a crumbling Victorian relic tucked into the frozen woods of Poeland, where secrets fester beneath the floorboards.
What begins as a brief detour turns sinister when a prominent tech entrepreneur dies in a grotesque car accident-his body discovered mutilated near a frozen embankment, next to a charred Kachina doll, scorched into a mocking grin. As more chilling deaths follow, each echoing unsolved murders from decades past, Annabel finds herself drawn into a spiraling mystery tethered to the legacy of her bloodline-and something much older, much darker.
Teaming up with her estranged uncle Nash, the town's reclusive medical examiner with a tragic past of his own, and J.C., his sharp, intuitive assistant and Annabel's childhood friend, the trio begins unraveling a web of cryptic symbols, Native American folklore, and suppressed town history. Their investigation leads to unsettling truths about a cycle of violence-young women dying under similar, symbolic circumstances across generations-and a presence that seems to feed on grief, fear, and guilt.
Haunted by strange visions and unrelenting migraines, Annabel is forced to confront the unexplainable-visions that seem to pierce time, linking her to the death of Poe's muse and to a literary curse buried in her blood. At the same time, Sheriff Briggs, worn down by the grief of his own son's suspicious overdose, becomes entangled in the investigation, torn between duty and the dawning suspicion that Poeland's darkest sins may never have left.
Layered with psychological suspense, ancestral trauma, and supernatural undertones, Last Poe is a gothic thriller that explores the weight of legacy, the ghosts we carry, and the price of uncovering truth in a town where silence is survival-and history always repeats.
