Collins Big Cat is a guided reading series for ages 4-7 edited by Cliff Moon. Top children's authors and illustrators have created fiction and non-fiction books that your children will love to read, banded to help you choose the right book for every child. Practical ideas for guided reading are included at the back of each book. Using a combination of artwork and photographs, this colorful book takes children through the experience of shopping, for trainers, books, bread and all sorts of things. The left hand page shows artwork of a book shop or supermarket, while the right hand page shows a photo of children playing at shopping with a till, counter and props. There are lots of opportunities for discussion. A two page final spread shows a s story map of all the shops visited, to help children recap. Red B/Band 2B books contain short, simple, repetitious single sentences of approximately five to eight words. The text contains familiar objects and actions, combined with simple story development.
