The faith divide in our country is a wide and treacherous as it has ever been. Christians in this country (and elsewhere) are deeply divided over our shared language, but we are also at war with each other regarding our sacred text, the Bible. It is a "war of interpretations." Our interpretive lens informs our perception of God, who God is, and what God wants. The purpose of this book is to exposit an alternate understanding of God drawn from my friendship with David, a gay man dying of AIDS, excommunicated from his family, and who found his way back to God after years in the far country. This book has a heartbeat, David's and mine, because, in the end, we learned to ask better questions.
