"Young Lucy is a fairy who has a magic wand, yet she does not quite have control over the pixie magic that occurs. Despite her parent's warnings to be careful, everything seems to go haywire when Lucy uses her magic wand in unconventional ways. When she stirs her pumpkin soup with the wand, the soup changes color and has a hideous odor. Lucy's attempts at creating music by using the wand as a drumstick on a pot ends up with an explosion, and her next try with a violin using the wand as a bow results in a screeching noise. Lucy's parents have their hands full as one magical mishap and yet another occurs as Lucy uses her wand during the day. Will Lucy ever gain control of the magic wand? The story leaves the readers with an open ending. The illustrations provide some support for the readers. This book is part of the "Read-it! Readers" series at the yellow level with a wider vocabulary and varying sentence structures."
