Paradise Lost & Paradise Regained

Paradise Lost depicts both the adventures of Satan and the lives of Adam and Eve. Beginning with Satan's promise to corrupt God's Earth, Milton tells the tale of how Satan entered the Garden of Eden and filled Adam and Eve's angelic existence with sin. Written in blank verse, this seventeenth-century English poem solidified Milton's reputation as one of the greatest poets of his time. John Milton's sequel to Paradise Lost chronicles the temptation of Christ as represented in the Gospel of Luke. This epic poem portrays Jesus Christ, the son of God, in a plain and human light. Told in a more straight-forward manner, this work shows Milton's maturity as a poet as he attempts to reverse the loss of Paradise.
