This is the story of a novelist and private detective In New York City who buys a deserted Tunisian nightclub in the old Arab quarter of Palermo. Her workmen speak a dialect and take naps in the wheelbarrow; she deals with frustration, renovation and the Mafia. The year ends with a birthday party for Oscar Wilde.
