Race is a picture book.Race is a poem.Race should be REQUIRED READING for all high performing children... and those who were once children. It's an illustrated love letter and plea from a forty year veteran teacher of advanced kids, who has sadly witnessed too many promising lives "crash and burn" under the percieved pressure to succeed. Race doesn't discourage the efforts of these magnificent children. It merely reminds them to take an occasional breath. Born in Havana, Cuba, Robert Henandez grew up in Miami, Florida, graduating with a biology degree from the University of Miami. He married his wife (since 1985 and counting), moved to Tampa where he added a Masters degree from the University of South Florida. He has two amazing sons who are his pillars. Currently retired in the sleepy beach town of Ormond Beach, Florida after 40 years in the classroom, Robert occupies himself writing all the works he was too busy to get to while teaching. His spare time is split between his family and the magnificent Florida springs and bike trails.
