About

Nighttime is coming, and Mama says it's time for bed. "I can't," the child explains. "My blanket ran away. I saw it scrambling down the stairs."

As each family member, from Auntie to the family dog, tries to get the toddler to go to bed, he tells them about the blanket's journey. It's packing up a bag, wriggling through the window and climbing over the garden gate! After leading a merry chase down the road, the blanket needs a rest. Maybe it's finally ready for bed...for tonight, at least. In this adorable board book, a toddler is told it's time for bed, but he's not ready yet-because he saw his blanket packing up a bag…and climbing over the garden gate…and running down the road! Luckily, the child catches his blankie just in time for a cozy goodnight snuggle.

Mike and his family live on Salt Spring Island, BC I can't go to bed without my blanket! I can't go to bed without my blanket!
Key Selling Points

• It's bedtime, but the little narrator of this story knows he can't go to bed without his runaway blanket, which has escaped down the road.

• Perfect for reading aloud, this board book keeps the text short and sweet, with repetition throughout of the adults' "It's time for bed" reminders and the boy's replies. Kids will love re-reading it and joining in for the repeating lines.

• This gently mischievous story about a kid with an active imagination will appeal to any child who has ever tried to postpone their bedtime (which is every kid, right?).

• With loving family members Mama, Auntie and Nana (as well as the family dog) trying to get our main character to get ready for bed, this book gives representation to multigenerational households.

• The author and illustrator, Nancy and Mike Deas, are married and have previously collaborated on the graphic novel series Sueño Bay Adventures.
