About

Delicate Delicia Grace has been coddled all her life and educated at home, her mother refusing to send her to school with 'rough' girls or allow her to do anything that would tax her strength. But when her father in Burma has an accident and her mother must go out there to look after him, Delicia must have somewhere to stay in England. With school and relatives out of the question, her mother latches on to an advertisement from a Mrs Clarence-Price, who offers a home to children whose families are abroad, and gratefully sends Delicia there. Unfortunately for Delicia, all is not as advertised and she must face more hardships than she could have dreamed existed in her protected world. How will a girl who has been wrapped in cotton wool all her life cope with what is thrown at her?
