The Envious Earl

Walter Holland, the earl of Walsh, is often described as a bitter man but he has reason to be. As the heir to the title, he lived his life being responsible and reliable while his younger brother had nothing but freedom. When his brother's careless attitude led to a scandal that ruined his life, he had to stay and face it while the other got to escape to a new life. Then he found out that the title came with nothing but debt, leaving him penniless and broken after all of his good behavior. Now that there is nothing to lose, perhaps he will venture outside the restrictions of being a proper gentleman.
Sarah Langston, the only daughter of an ambitious marquis, has heard nothing spoken about her but her beauty her entire life and was expected to find a perfect match her first season. However, her sharp wit and sharper tongue have caused her to remain unmarried after many seasons. Now she was close to being firmly on the shelf and her prospects are dwindling. Instead of becoming desperate to find a husband, she decides to accept her future without marriage. Only, she does wonder about certain other benefits a man can offer and if a different arrangement might be enjoyable.
What starts out as a friendly agreement between two people looking to avoid attachment quickly becomes more complicated than either of them expected.
