Deputy Mike Poole of the Westmoreland County Sheriff's Department has recently purchased the Pruce property. As he reconciles with the love of his life, Jillian, and moves her and her daughter into his new home, a dark presence begins to make itself known. A hellish, soaking-wet child with big saucer-like black eyes haunts them, while a more matronly spirit protects them all from the child's bloodlust for retribution.Meanwhile, Mike, an officer in the CID unit of the Sheriff's Office, is assigned a brutal murder case. As he investigates, he finds all roads lead back to the old gravel pit road on his own property. Lacynda Mathes is a graduate of Radford University in Radford, VA. She holds a B.A. in English.She is originally from Oak Grove, VA, in Westmoreland County near Colonial Beach. She graduated from Washington and Lee High School, Montross, VA, in 1986. She attended Randolph-Macon College, studied abroad at Wroxton College in Oxfordshire, England, and ultimately transferred to Radford University, where she completed her degree.She currently resides in Sterling, IL, with her husband. She is the mother to their teenage sons, the eldest with special needs, who has been diagnosed with Lennox Gestaut Syndrome, a catastrophic childhood epilepsy, and severe autism.
