About

King's seer.
She can barely remember what her true name is, as that's all she has been called since she was nine years old when her parents sold her to the king to be his seer and left her there. Some days she wonders if they think about her, other days, she wonders what she did to deserve being sold to the king. Then there are days when she doesn't even remember they exist. She is the King's seer, and this is her tale.
Excerpt
The child stares at the king before backing up a step. "I don't want to stay, Mama. I want to go home."
Her mother kneels down before her. "You can do this for us."
"Please don't make me stay."
"Enough." She straightens her dress a bit. "It's only for a few years, sweetie. Just help the King see bad people."
She whispers quietly. "But he is a bad people, Mama."
