About

This book is a condensation of the author's encyclopedic Let Us Draw Near: Biblical Foundations of Worship; presenting the same basic content in a more manageable size will appeal to interested laypeople as well as pastors and worship leaders. Man draws upon his experience teaching this material over the past thirty years in forty-one countries to provide a rich and deep examination of biblical worship, drawing principles out of a rigorous study of the text of Scripture. He also writes as a practitioner, from the perspective of one who served as a church worship pastor for over thirty years. Special features of this volume include: 1) tracing the foundational Revelation and Response pattern through the Scriptures; 2) giving special emphasis to important New Testament texts, especially the books of Hebrews and Revelation; 3) examining the crucial roles of the Holy Spirit, and of Jesus Christ as the true Leader of our worship; 4) sharing relevant anecdotes from the author's years of teaching overseas; 5) providing questions "For Reflection and/or Discussion," making the book useful for individual or group study; and 6) concluding with a synthesis of the study in twelve "Biblical Principles of Worship."
