About

The Soap Making Companion is skillfully crafted for the curious hobbyist who wants to learn the artisan craft of soap making. Meant for the absolute beginner, there is no other soap making book that is organized to answer all your beginner questions in the order that they will come to you as you experience this hand on skill.

This beginner book is for the blossoming artisan soap maker. From the Artists behind the World of Thermal Mermaid, Jennifer Tynan has written a full soap making tutorial written in three parts for everything you need to know to learn the craft of soap making from your own kitchen studio.

Part one gives you a breakdown on what goes into making soap on a fundamental level, an explanation of the chemical process of soap making, and how to turn that into a kitchen friendly process. It covers safety, first aid, and information on working with caustic household chemicals. Then you get the basics of how the math works when creating your own recipes. The full breakdown is complete with charts and numbers and can all be found in chapter one.

Part two is where this friendly book comes to life. Packed full of recipes, part two is broken down into 12 sub-parts explaining the terminology you need to know when following a soaper's recipe. Concepts like super fat, gel, glycerin rivers, insulating, the DOS, and trace are all discussed throughout the recipes. Create a wide variety of designs and types of soap through the cold process method while learning all the nuances that comes with mastering this art.

Part three steps it up just a little bit when you learn how to slow cook the soap through the hot process method. An entirely new look to your creations can be achieved while practicing the recipes found in the third section of this book.

With so much learning and recipes packed in this book, everything here can be achieved at the beginner level of soap making, and you will be well on your way to becoming the next master soap maker.
