When a catastrophic hurricane strikes without warning, Eudoxia of Thalassia watches her life's work fail in the very moment it is needed most. Once revered for a storm-prediction system that made vulnerable coasts habitable, she is stripped of rank and driven into exile by guilt, grief, and the need to understand what she missed. Far to the west, K'inich, a young Maya scholar, begins to notice troubling shifts in rainfall, heat, water levels, and crop health, only to find his warnings dismissed by elders who trust prophecy more than evidence. Their separate journeys across a climate-strained Caribbean lead them through shipwreck, survival, sacred landscapes, and the hard lesson that nature cannot be mastered without consequence.
