To most people, Satan is the symbol of ultimate evil. To the members of Church of the Morningstar, he is anything but. The Devil we know and love is the original rebel-- a free thinker, a truth-teller, an anarchist tirelessly waging guerilla war against a cruel and tyrannical God. He and his demonic legions are allies of humanity. In these times of inequality and oppression, they show us the path to freedom. Church of the Morningstar practices a unique, homegrown form of Satanism. We approach the occult with a blend of scholarly curiosity and punk-rock DIY spirit, rigorous research and affectionate irreverence. We believe in Satan, and we think he believes in us. We're pretty sure that he believes in you too. This book compiles writings from the first several years of our existence. Here you will find essays, sermons, poetry, polemics, fiction, ritual, meditations, Satanized psalms, hellish hymns, and more! Pastor Johnny was born in San Francisco, California. A series of bizarre events caused him to switch life paths from "punk musician" to "Satanic pastor." With Frater Babylon and Helios, he co-founded Church of the Morningstar in 2019. In hopes of being taken semi-seriously, he obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Starr King School for the Ministry in 2023. He is blissfully married to Frater Babylon, with whom he now has four adult adopted children (Satan help them).
