About

Persecuted, marginalized, incarcerated, and repressed, the Protestants of Spain knew how to live their faith in a merciful and faithful God in the midst of adversity and a country they loved but that did not belong to them. The history of suffering and persecution of Protestants during the years of the Franco regime often has been relegated to the background, sometimes by its own protagonists, satisfied with the democratic society that began to take shape. However, it is the duty of a people to remember its history, and for that reason Monroy tells us in Un protestante en la España de Franco (A Protestant in Franco's Spain) his own life as an exceptional witness of that time: a different, real, and raw history of Spain that does not appear in the textbooks. Monroy did not stop fighting to defend his faith and that of his brothers in one of the most hostile scenarios that could be imagined.
