"Sight is a very complex concept. This book tries to explain what it is and how it works in a way that children will understand. It does a fairly good job. Rick Peterson's illustrations are very child friendly, somewhat cartoonlike, bright and bold. They include boys and girls, black and white. The illustrations of the eye and its parts are simple and clear. The role of light and depth of field are also explained. This small book contains some interesting data at the back which includes: curious facts, a glossary, bibliography, websites, list of other titles in the series, and an index. This is a simple yet substantial title for use in the science curriculum. Scientific explanations are brought down to a level that will make the concepts understandable by the little ones. A great start for further learning."

"These volumes on taste and sight, part of a new Spanish translation of a series explaining each of the five senses, continue the Picture Window tradition of cheerful and colorful illustrations accompanied by kid-appropriate informational text. Large print explains the main topic on each page; smaller font adds more detailed information for the first or second grade independent reader. Nonfiction text features such as labeled diagrams, a glossary, and an index add another facet to the teaching opportunities. I really appreciate the fact that the books listed under the "To Learn More" section are actually available in Spanish. Recommended."
