C. Courtney Joyner takes us on a journey through the history of southern regional cinema. Joyner explores the roots of how exploitation films came to be, not least of which was because smaller theaters in the south couldn't afford to show studio films. This opened the way for smaller filmmakers to show their films in theaters.
