Doxological Reformed Sermon

The Word was made flesh and dwelt among men in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He rose again on the third day, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God. The Logos, resisted and rejected as reason, as general revelation, and as special (redemptive) revelation, comes once more to man and is crucified. He came to accomplish redemption and now rules to apply redemption. Jesus came as Messiah, full of grace and truth. It is by His life and death that this grace and truth come. He came to undo what Adam did (as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world) and to do what Adam failed to do (to rule by His Spirit, exercising dominion through His people-he Church, to make God known). No man has ever seen God. God is made known only through His Word, His only begotten Son. The Son, through the fullness of grace, makes God fully known.

The Biblical Worldview: Creation, Fall, Redemption is the foundational and, therefore, the inaugural book in the Doxological Reformed Sermon Series. Creation-fall-redemption are the foundational themes of biblical revelation and are best introduced in the first three chapters of Genesis. The truth of special revelation is encapsulated in an organic seed form, a unity that grows, encompassing all essential elements in summary. This unity progressively unfolds organically and grows in fullness throughout redemptive history from Genesis to Revelation. Scripture builds on, is to be understood by, and is the development of what is revealed in Genesis 1-3. Understanding the beginning is necessary to understand all that follows.

The Book of Revelation: What Must Soon Take Place-Doxological Postmillennialism offers a comprehensive exposition of Revelation set within the broader scope of eschatology. Within this framework, eschatology is prior to, and more fundamental than, special revelation, since its truth is grounded in the nature of God and man and in the reality of good and evil as structured in the created order. The final book of Scripture, therefore, presupposes this eschatological context, first revealed in creation and progressively unfolded throughout Scripture. The perspicuity of eschatology is affirmed across general revelation, special revelation, and Historic Christianity, with each reinforcing the others, bringing increased clarity regarding its most basic truth: the good-eternal life, or man's chief end-and, by implication, the question of how and when this end is realized.Agreement on the chief end of man thus offers a path toward overcoming divisions surrounding the interpretation of Revelation, including premillennialism, amillennialism, and postmillennialism. By faithfully applying the method of Rational Presuppositionalism and addressing the distorting effects of faulty hermeneutical assumptions in both literalism and allegoricalism, this work seeks, through contextualism, to move the Church toward the unity of the faith in its eschatological understanding.At the heart of eschatology lies a fundamental division between hope and despair: whether the work given to man, to fill the earth with the knowledge of God through dominion and discipleship, will be completed in history by Christ through His Church. Doxological postmillennialism affirms that this work will indeed be completed, that the revelation given in seed form in Genesis 1-3 is organically unfolded and brought to its fullness in the consummate vision of the City of God in Revelation 21-22. Revelation thus emerges not as an obscure puzzle, but as the culmination of the promise that began in Eden, given for the encouragement and blessing of the Church.
