What happens when you are suddenly abducted from your life, your world, and tossed into a battle you never knew existed? This is the sudden twist in Steve's fate as he is pulled into the unbelievable square and rectangle world of Minecraft. Thrust into his destiny as soon as he comes to this new world; he must follow the path up to the great mountain where he would acquire the sword which would decide the fate of the world. A fumbling, bumbling, and stumbling wizard and his not so heroic, but sometimes brave, companion Steve have fallen into the slimy grasp of a malevolent witch, Getrude..... Gertrude is chummy with Bethelda, the gnarled and crooked lady of the woods with a special propensity for casting cruel spells, and an even more suspiciously obscure figure, The Shadow. Ever present, The Shadow melts the brightest days into liquid misery and has a plan which nobody, not even his closest villainous cronies are privy to. Grumbles, Steve, and the gang weave through trials and trepidations and acquire, or attempt to acquire, the succor of two surprising people in the hope of defending against the evil that the Shadow and his brutish sidekicks are want to bring to the doorstep of Minecraftian folk everywhere. Steve and Grumbles, they're on a mission which has taken them far away from our ordinary world and into the darkest depths of the Minecraftian world, I believe you remember them, and they might even have a run in with mice. Mice, what do you know about mice? I know a thing or two about mice, let me tell you. Mice invented cheese, you heard it here first folks, they really did. Fairy queens, too, what do you know about them? Well, there might be one of those in this story and she'll have wings like those of a butterfly which glimmer with a supernatural radiance, you'll just have to wait and see, won't you. The last I heard Steve and Grumbles were in the odious grip of the Shadow, but in this tale they'll surely make it out alive, or so I hope, meet some companions along the way, and head to the Nimble Peak. Not without their challenges though and you'll be lucky enough to meet some other creatures, mythic ones too and ones that can talk, all of that and more lies within these pages, so delve in if you dare.

Steve, Grumbles and their friends are up against the wall as they battle head-to-head with the Shadow and his armies at the Nimble Peak. The battlefield is a contested area, as is the future of Minecraftia. Will it be plummeted into chaos or will order and goodness reign supreme? Steve has to plunge himself into the darkness that has been cast over Minecraftia and defeat the Shadow, once and for all, and save the Minecraftian citizenry from the toil and tyranny that awaits them. If he can do all of this, then maybe Steve and his beloved friends stand a chance of going home, finally, and confronting the many hidden delights of an ordinary world that has been swept away by the magic of another world, the Minecraftian world.
