Trilogy of the Tea Horse Trail Travelers

A Tibetan prince escapes a palace coup and is raised as a slave far away from the palace. He finds freedom on the Tea Horse Caravan trails that criss-cross the Himalayas and their foothills. He becomes a mercenary leading a 200 man army and wins an important battle against the Chinese, who then take exquisite revenge. He learns many lessons in his beloved sacred mountains. Many ballads are sung of his adventures, which live on longer than he does.

Tenzin and his bodyguard Norbu walk the Southern Silk Trail down to Calcutta to assess the continuing viability of this trading route. Along the way he learns as much as he can about the Hindu and Muslim features of this ancient land and how the people are dealing with the British Raj, colonial rulers for a century already. Surprisingly, the two learn even more about their own culture along the way.
