In Season 15 of this witty and charming mystery series set in Edwardian Toronto, Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson, Aurora Teagarden Mysteries) is still reeling from the news that he has a young son, as he seeks to protect the boy from the Black Hand crime gang. Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig, Where the Heart Is) tries to trace his own wayward son, who has sprung loose from prison. Constable Crabtree (Jonny Harris, Still Standing) must compromise himself to save his kidnapped girlfriend, and Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy, Durham County) confronts injustices at the hospital that push her towards a new path.

In the midst of this, the team investigate death threats against Sigmund Freud, scandalous film images of actress Mary Pickford, a fatal civil-rights protest featuring W.E.B. Du Bois and Booker T. Washington, and a murder linked to the inventor of basketball-and they even stumble onto the private life of superspy Terrence Meyers (Peter Keleghan, Workin' Moms).

After disgraced former police inspector Percival Giles escapes from prison, Murdoch races to intercept him before a mercenary detective can get there first. At the jail, Murdoch learns that another inmate claims the inspector planted evidence long ago that convicted him of murdering his girlfriend. In the aftermath of her abduction, Effie is having trouble coping and turns to Ogden for help.

As they are returning from a volleyball tournament, Effie and Brackenreid are injured when brake failure causes a train derailment. While Ogden and Hart tend to the passengers, they soon discover a dead police officer who had been transporting a now-missing prisoner. Back in Toronto, Murdoch is unexpectedly left caring for Higgins's daughter when the crawling infant escapes from the station house.

When a con man who preys on wealthy, older women is found dead in a hotel room, Murdoch and Crabtree investigate. To Crabtree's surprise, the woman standing beside the bloody body is his aunt Zinnia. Though Murdoch is dubious, Crabtree vouches for her integrity. But when it becomes clear Zinnia may have been an accomplice and is now the prime suspect, Crabtree enlists Effie to handle her defense.

At Halloween, old rumors of a clown terrorizing high school students become reality when a young woman is stabbed to death in front of her sweetheart. Murdoch interviews the survivor, but his story doesn't align with Hart's autopsy findings. Then a short time later, the clown kills again.

7. The Incorrigible Dr. Ogden

After a woman's severed body is found on the railway tracks, Murdoch and Hart discern she was killed elsewhere. Nearby, Murdoch discovers a reformatory for wayward women. The warden claims the victim was an ideal inmate, but the other women there treat Murdoch with evasiveness or outright hostility. With his investigation stalled, he needs someone inside, and Ogden seems perfect for the job.

Murdoch and Brackenreid are called to a house where a parlor game has gone awry, with one of the guests stabbed in the back. When the lady of the house introduces her husband, insurance man Lyle Anderson, they're stunned to see it is Terrence Meyers. The intrepid spy insists it's his actual name and civilian life-and no one knows about it. But someone must, as it seems the real target was Meyers.

After kidnappers break into Rupert Newsome's house and abduct his wife, Lucinda, in front of the family, a hefty ransom is demanded. Ruth volunteers Higgins, who heads to the drop point but alerts Crabtree that if he doesn't call back in an hour, there's been trouble. When Higgins fails to call, Murdoch's frantic search leads to a warehouse with an ominous message.

At an awards ceremony, Ogden is thrilled by a generous pledge from Councilman Rekker for her women's health center. Then the night's honoree, satirical cartoonist Rexford Denison, is accosted by a businessman claiming his poison pen ruined him. Moments later Denison is shot dead. After a scathing cartoon of Rekker and the mayor's wife is published, Ogden's prime backer becomes the prime suspect.
