Chicago, the Windigo City
by Mark Everett Stone
Part 1 of the From the Files of the BSI series
Kal Hakala is the Bureau of Supernatural Investigation's best agent, but even he needs a break after his last case, which brought him a hair's breadth from death and killed the fiancée of his best friend, a Mescalero Apache agent named Canton Asate. Kal's temporary desk-job is nothing less than leadership of the entire BSI. Now it is on his head to assemble teams of agents to fight the latest Supernatural incursions and man up if they fail. Windigo spirits in Chicago are possessing human beings and transforming them into ravenous cannibals. Canton is the natural choice for a team leader because of his knowledge of Native American lore. Is Canton, a legend with a knife, ready to strike again, so soon after his fiancée's death? What about Kal's own girlfriend, Jeanie? Can he stand to put her in danger and beyond his protection? Kal is forced to use the BSI's cutting-edge virtual reality system to see what makes them both tick. Will the experience of virtually living their lives afford him the will to send those he loves into danger? Can an emotionally damaged man who has never led a team and a woman who traveled through time from the 1940s make the cut? For Kal, the choice isn't easy, but for Canton and Jeanie, it could be deadly. Born in Helsinki, Finland, Mark Everett Stone arrived in the U.S. at a young age and promptly dove into the world of the fantastic. Starting at age seven with the Iliad and the Odyssey, he went on to consume every scrap of Norse Mythology he could get his grubby little paws on. At age thirteen he graduated to Tolkien and Heinlein, building up a book collection that soon rivaled the local public library's. In college Mark majored in Journalism and minored in English. Mark has published six other books with Camel Press: Things to Do in Denver When You're Un-Dead, What Happens in Vegas Dies in Vegas, I Left My Haunt in San Francisco, Chicago The Windigo City, and Omaha Stakes (Books 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the From the Files of the BSI series) as well as a standalone novel, The Judas Line, which was a finalist for the ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Award in the Fantasy Category. Mark lives in Denver with his amazingly patient wife, Brandie, and their two sons, Aeden and Gabriel. From the Files of the BSI

I Left My Haunt in San Francisco
by Mark Everett Stone
Part 2 of the From the Files of the BSI series
After avenging himself on the mythical monster that killed his sister, Kal Hakela is back at the Bureau of Supernatural Investigation. But, with only a few months left on his contract, he's tempted to retire along with his new love, former MI-7 agent Jeanie. When a friend and former BSI agent in San Francisco kills himself, he leaves Kal a clue, one he cannot ignore. The city is full of bad memories for Kal. In his last mission there, he killed a deranged serial rapist who used magic to murder his victims. Though successful, the mission resulted in unfortunate collateral damage, which earned Kal the enmity of San Francisco's ghostly Supernatural protector. With the fate of every human on Earth at stake, Kal and his team confront a slew of Supernatural perils, from giant insects to gargoyles. And they must complete their mission without the help of the BSI, its magical weaponry, and the superhuman power of Kal's legendary rage. Omaha Stakes
by Mark Everett Stone
Part 3 of the From the Files of the BSI series
Agent Kal Hakala, who has been running the Bureau of Supernatural Investigation as its temporary director, has his hands full. First there was the windigo crisis that threatened humanity with extinction. Now he has received an anonymous challenge from a creature calling himself Maydock: "Come to Omaha within the next five days, or every day thereafter I shall kill ten humans in many inventive and disturbing ways." Maydock has infiltrated BSI Security and can monitor Kal's every move, so until Ghost can repair the breach, Kal has no choice but to travel to the Heartland with no team backup and only those items he can carry. While Kal dances to Maydock's tune, Canton and his team covertly follow as close as they dare, realizing that if they are caught, they will trigger Maydock's epic murder spree. Even as Kal is put through his paces, he uncovers corruption so insidious it tears at his fragile sanity. With the odds stacked so heavily against him, how can Kal possibly vanquish the most powerful being he has ever encountered? Book 5 in the From the Tales of the BSI series.
