Ghost in the System

The System is here! Most of the population of the planet were suddenly turned into zombies, while the rest acquired new abilities. Abilities that let them run from the zombies, save themselves, hide, and try to survive. But it only takes one bite that almost always means death. Our hero was standing in line when the apocalypse came. He was lucky at first to be caught in a crowd when the zombies tried to bite him on the leg. Really lucky, because those trials unlocked new abilities for him. He got to be one of the first to choose his character class. He had to do it quickly, before someone else got the best one . . . Considering he was introverted, maybe even a little antisocial, the choice was easy. Master of Shadows? Nope, already taken. Okay, Master of Darkness! Also taken. Okay, Ghost class also works. And it is a gold class, even though the bonuses you get are a little . . . questionable.

The end of the world is always a nightmare. But when it comes with the System, then it's not a nightmare for everyone. Not everybody is ready to fall into despair and come to terms with their fate as zombie food. Some people are ready to keep fighting however they can. Take Kasp as an example of one of those people. The end of the world was no nightmare for him. In fact, when the zombies and the System showed up, it brought new meaning to his life along with exciting new adventures! Our once introverted and antisocial hero now talks to people in real life even more than he ever did before the world ended. And the System also granted him an interesting artifact. A zombie head that never shuts up for even one second. It was the best present for an introvert whose only talent was thinking.

The System just keeps throwing new experiences at our MC and his friends. For example, our antisocial lone-wolf hero Kasp was awarded the title of Head of the Settlement by the System. However, he has no intentions of being a leader. Every day the System gets more and more difficult, with new dangers showing up constantly, along with tremendously aggressive beasts. But those complications come with new possibilities too. And even if human civilization was totally destroyed recently, now humanity might have a ray of hope... But what does any of that matter to Kasp? He is a ghost. He doesn't have to worry about anything. So who does?

The world could not escape this misfortune that came out of the blue, so the System is still providing its inhabitants with entertainment. In addition to developing and constantly introducing new possibilities for the inhabitants of the planet, the System is also trying to complicate their lives. Who knows why that is? Maybe that's how some higher power is trying to make the survivors move forward, to become stronger and smarter. And to mobilize all their strength and forget about their boring and meaningless old lives. As for Kasp . . . Kasp just wants peace and quiet. Maybe that's why the System chose him as the leader of a settlement and gave him a whole host of responsibilities. But he is also a Ghost, so . . . No, he's not going to do that. He's going to vanish into thin air and fly away, leaving all that routine stuff for someone else to do. And do actually interesting things instead.

It once seemed like the world had been shaken by the coming of the System, leaving no chance for humanity to survive. But the System didn't always mean death! Yes, it had killed the majority of the population on the planet, making horrifying monsters out of the dead, who, in addition to everything else, had a tendency to evolve right in front of your very eyes. But that had also given people the opportunity to develop! That was to say nothing of the surprising new abilities and capabilities that specific people acquired. Humanity could not be preserved through them. At the very least, civilization could not hold on by riding on the coattails of a few powerful personalities. But the ability to found a System settlement, that was a real chance. People had to stick together, their most fundamental social instinct. Our own hero indeed had the good fortune to found his own settlement. But this would be a completely different story if it were just a regular settlement. A City of Ghosts . . . Sounds bad, doesn't it?
